The incidence of breast cancer is although low in India, but is rising. Breast cancer is the commonest cancer of urban Indian women and the second commonest in the rural women. Amplification or overexpression of Human Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor-2/neu (HER-2/neu) oncogene has been shown to play an important role in the development and progression of certain aggressive types of breast cancer.
