Current Approach to Axilla in Breast Cancer
Abstract
The characteristics of the axillary lymph node are one of the most important prognostic factors determining the prognosis in breast cancer. Until the beginning of 1990s staging and survival were evaluated only with axillary lymph node dissection, but the introduction of the path-breaking sentinel lymph node biopsy enabled the prevention of many unnecessary morbidities.
